Chaudigital & Paperandinks.com invited by Epson UK and Konica UK to attend Focus in Imaging 2003

Between 24th & 28th February, Chaudigital and its subsidiary Paperandinks.com was invited to attend the Focus in Imaging Show at the Birmingham NEC by imaging leaders Epson UK and Konica UK.

Danny Chau, Managing Director of Chaudigital and an imaging specialist with over 20 years of professional photographic experience, was invited to attend the Epson stand to help Epson's customers understand the unique qualities of their large format printers.

On the stand were some of Epson's latest printers available - a Stylus Pro 10600, and the award-winning Epson Stylus Photo 2100. Colour calibrated using Chaudigital's own GretagMacbeth Eyeone Pro calibrator, Danny was invited to show to customers what colour management could do to improve the quality of these already impressive 7-colour printers on Epson's own Apple PowerMac G4 on the stand.

Customers who came to see Danny could see the beautiful output produced by these printers. The powerful sample images printed on the Epson Stylus Pro 10600 were contributed by Paul Murphy, a freelance fashion photographer, who rose to prominence mostly notably with the photos taken of the winning male model Nathan Roberts (in a blindfold) for Channel 4's Model Behaviour show. The dynamic and bold-looking male and female portraits taken by Paul showcased what could be achieved through large format digital printing.

Chaudigital's subsidiary Paperandinks.com meanwhile was demonstrating on the Konica stand. Situated opposite the Epson stand, Paperandinks.com Sales Manager Jason Chau along with his colleague Sanjay Kallideen (pictured below), demonstrated the high quality of output on Konica QP Inkjet paper on the group's Canon S9000, Epson Stylus Pro 7600, and HP Photo Smart 100 printers.

Visitors who came to both stands were impressed with the quality of the output, and on the Konica stand were impressed with the vibrancy of output that the QP paper gave against other papers. Some visitors notably even took the large A1 sample Budweiser bottle photos printed on the Epson 7600 (contributed by photographer Gary Childs) home to keep, such impressed as they were with the quality of the paper and the printout quality, both on colour and black and white prints.

The show, which drew many crowds, ended on the 28th February 2003 on a high note for Chaudigital, whose collaboration with Epson UK and Konica UK showed that the high level of output quality achieved through inkjet is now comparable to traditional photographic techniques. The age of digital imaging, for Chaudigital at least, has only just begun.

About Colour Management

Colour Management is the science of colour matching, managing image colour workflow and its associated parts. It is an important process to implement for users who deal and work with, digital images on a daily basis. It usually consists of both a hardware and software solution for an existing computer system (ie. PC or Mac) and usually allows the users to see what they print or output from their system exactly. Often it reduces the amount of time spent working on an image, especially at the printing stage, saving the users both the time and money spent on raw materials used to output images, as well as improving user workflow productivity.
