Wacom has released a new version of the INTUOS 3 tablet. The new tablet, improving on the design of the last Intuos 2, features a more visually appealing transparent plastic finish, new user-definable Expresskeys on the tablet, touch-sensitive 'Touch Strip' for easier use with programs, a new improved 'all-in-one' pen design as well as increased resolution of 5,080 lpi - double its predecessor's resolution.

To be used for graphics, art, design and photographic applications the new Intuos 3 is designed to make life easier for users of pen-ready programs like Photoshop and Indesign. Instead of having to press certain keys for functions on the keyboard, users can program all the macro functions onto the tablet's Expresskeys via the software. The Touch Strip control slider enables users to now change items like brush size and picture zoom with relative ease. Although it is also compatible with Microsoft Windows XP, for Apple Macintosh users, Intuos 3 now comes with dedicated OSX 10.x drivers for setting in System Preferences.

The Intuos 3 also features an overall improved driver software interface, a more paperlike surface finish for the tablet and also improved pen design and pen design holder. The Intuos 3 Grip Pen comes with 2 other nibs for use. Unlike previous Intuos pens, the new Grip pen can easily be changed from a Stroke pen nib into a Felt Pen nib via the simple change with a tweezer.
The Wacom Intuos 3 comes in three sizes - A6, A5 and A4 and is available for Microsoft Windows ME, 2000, XP and Apple Macintosh OSX operating systems.
